WTA BETTING PREVIEW – BOGOTA
ALIONA BOLSOVA vs ANNA SCHMEIDLOVA
These odds about Aliona Bolsova look interesting. The Spaniard enjoyed a couple of qualifying wins in Miami, and at least she took Qiang Wang to three sets before going out. That was the best form Bolsova had shown since (September) Rome, when she beat Alison Riske, and Anna Kalinskaya before losing a third set tie-breaker against Anna Blinkova.
On that note, the 23-year-olds win record on this surface is 68.9%, and in 2019 she won 6 matches at the French open against the likes of Timea Babos, Vera Zvonareva, Sorana Cirstea, and Ekaterina Alexandrova. In the context of playing in Bogota, those wins are a league higher!
Anna Schmiedlova is also at her best playing from the base-line on clay. Back at the beginning of 2016, the 26-year-old appeared to be heading towards a high rank when she peaked at a career high 26. What followed was a massive loss of form (8/29) that appeared to be associated with burnout. In 2017/18 Schmiedlova played out a positive 72/53, and she did at least make the QF of last years Prague.
With all that said, recent defeats suggest the Slovakian is susceptible to a player such as Bolsova. The draw has been a bit cruel, in that both would have a chance of going deep into a tournament like this!
We see value in betting on the Spaniard!
