In 2021, Storm Sanders has already claimed decent scalps in Putintseva, Tomljanovic, and Cocciaretto. The 26-year-old Australian didn’t have any problem beating 1st qualification round opponent Gabriela Dabrowski, but that player is out of form. Furthermore, Sanders stats on clay suggest it is her least favoured surface, and she’s up against a tough one here!
Caroline Dolehide is the opposite, in that the 22 year old won 67% of her matches on clay. According to stats on other surfaces, this is clearly the one that suits the U.S. player best. On that note, it is hardly surprising with her being an aggressive base-liner. The other weapon of the younger player is her heavy serve, and it was put to good use in her first round (qualification) win over Mirjam Bjorkland!
