JESSICA PEGULA vs ELINA SVITOLINA – BETTING PREVIEW
WTA INDIAN WELLS
Two 27 years olds going head to head in this match. The pairing played met twice this year, with Elina Svitolina winning in Dubai. A month later, Jessica Pegula took revenge at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
For the record, in the live ranking chart, the Ukrainian is up a place to rank 6. That compares to a career-high of 3, and her YTD is a solid 41/18 of which she’s 31/11 on hard court. Svitolina is the winner of $19.9 million in prize money, and in 2019 she was a semi-finalist here.
In the last round, Svitolina dug deep to see off the challenge of Sorana Cirstea. However, she needed 2:33 on the court and a third-set tie break to land odds of 1.22. Suffice to say, she was expected to have a more comfortable night. On that note, getting a hard match so early in the tournament is a disadvantage!
Pegula didn’t start taking the WTA tour serious until about three years ago. The Billionaires daughter has shot up through the rankings, and she’s been better than ever this year.
Despite a pitiful $1.4M in prize money, she’s a genuine contender for a tournament like this. In fact, in 2021 she made the QF of the Aussie Open and followed that with a semi-final in Doha. Also, she’s 40/18 this year and beat players such as Pliskova (4 times), Halep, Jabeur, Osaka, Alexandrova, Kasatkina, and Collins.
A recent semi-final in Montreal is proof of the New Yorker’s wellbeing, and she destroyed her two opponents here.
We respect Svitolina, but she is beatable and Pegula is in hot form!!
