Atletico-Go were promoted from last seasons Serie B has the top team. In fact, the Dragons didn’t just win the league, they achieved it in style and were ten points clear at the end of the campaign. Nevertheless, despite that wide margin win, the hosts were just the second best home side. with that said,  they still played our a 14-3-2.

The new campaign didn’t start well for Goianiense, and we all know what that means in Brazil. Yes, last seasons winning coach Marcelo Cabo was fired after just four games of the season, and he’s now been replaced by Doriva. Interestingly, the new boss was also in charge of todays opponents in 2014, and this is his eighth club in four years.

Goianiense at least bounced back to win their last two games at home against Avai (3-1) and Ponte Preta (3-0), and on a positive note the coach can count on a near to full squad this evening. For the record Marcao returns from suspension, so only Jonathan remains sidelined.

Atletico-PR finished an highly respectable sixth in last seasons league, but they were just the 17th (from 20) best traveller. In fact, the visitors could only manage 9 points when playing away, and that compares to the 48 they took at home. So far this season Paranaense are 1-1-2 when playing on the road, and their win was in the last round against Atletico-MG

With regards to that recent match, the words awful spring to mind. And, it’s not just that we had to wait until the 90th minute for the winning goal, their was simply no flow to the game has both sets of players made mistakes. In any case,

the Hurricane are still bottom of the league and they have some big player issues tonight.

Boss Eduardo Baptista is without the services of suspended midfielder Lucho Gonzalez. Other players missing include Giovanny, Guilherme, Eduardo da Silva and Macanhan. Goalkeeper Weverton returns from international duty and is likely to replace Santos in that position.

It’s hard to get away from team news and home bias. With that in mind we are very keep to get with the hosts -0.25 goals, especially since they won their last two home matches in really good style.
